چکیده

Ginger (Zingiber officinale Roscoe) var. Bentong is a monocotyledon plant that belongs to the Zingiberaceae family. ginger most popular cultivar of in Malaysia, which conventionally propagated by its rhizome. As rhizomes are economic part plant, allocation large amount as planting materials increases agricultural input cost. Simultaneously, rhizomes’ availability restricted due high demand for fresh market. Moreover, propagation using rhizome accompanied several types soil-borne diseases. Plant tissue culture techniques have been applied produce disease-free overcome these problems. Hence, vitro-induced microrhizomes considered alternative cultivation. On other hand, has not studied microrhizome induction. Therefore, this study was conducted optimize sucrose and growth regulators (PGRs) Microrhizomes were successfully induced Murashige Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with concentration (>45 g L−1). In addition, zeatin at 5–10 µM found more effective induction than 6-benzylaminopurine (BAP) similar concentration. The addition 7.5 1-naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA) further enhanced formation reduced sucrose’s required dose needs be supplied efficient formation. MS 60 L−1 sucrose, 10 NAA optimum combination ginger. sprouted indoors moist sand all established field conditions. conclusion, vitro can used commercial cultivation

Synthesis of Phenolics and Flavonoids in Ginger (Zingiber officinale Roscoe) and Their Effects on Photosynthesis Rate

The relationship between phenolics and flavonoids synthesis/accumulation and photosynthesis rate was investigated for two Malaysian ginger (Zingiber officinale) varieties grown under four levels of glasshouse light intensity, namely 310, 460, 630 and 790 μmol m(-2)s(-1). High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) was employed to identify and quantify the polyphenolic components. The results ...
